What is the Hymen?
The Hymen: A thin membrane in the vagina.
The hymen is a thin, delicate membrane. You can compare it to skin but it is much thinner, consisting of elastic and fibrous tissue.
The position of the hymen:
Hymen partially covers the opening (introitus) of the vagina in most girls.
The function of Hymen:
It is a remnant from the development as a fetus, of the membranes of the vagina and urogenital sinus at their point of fusion. The biological function of the human hymen is still uncertain.
Scientists hypothesise it protects the vagina from infection in infants. It has to be incomplete, to allow the outflow of menstrual blood at the onset of puberty.
Hymen Restoration Surgery
Hymenoplasty is a surgical procedure designed to repair and reconstruct the thin, ring-like skin membrane partially covering the opening of the vagina, known as the “hymen.”
A Broken Hymen can happen even if the girl has never had any sexual relationship or intimate contact with a partner.
If the Hymen is broken by either sexual activity, which includes incomplete penetration, or by any other reasons like an injury, (from horse riding, bike riding, gymnastics, or similar, no Bleeding will occur on the Wedding night.
Also, no blood will appear if Hymen Contact:. Stretching of the hymen can happen due to anal sex that some girls practice avoiding breaking the hymen.
If you are unsure about the condition of your Hymen, please get in touch for professional advice.
Hymenoplasty takes about 40 minutes, with most patients able to return to work the next day. Restoration of the hymen is done on an outpatient basis, either under a general anaesthetic or IV sedation.
Before surgery, patients are required to have a pre-surgical consultation and thorough gynaecological examination. During this time, they should communicate their needs and expectations to the doctor, and in turn, will learn of the possible risks and benefits to hymenoplasty.
